                                 Sirusho

Sirusho was born on 7th January 1987 in Yerevan, Armenia.
Sirusho comes from two artist parents. Both of them are Honored Artists of Armenia. Her father, Hrachya Harutunyan is a very talented actor working at the Armenian Dramatic Theatre and is the lead actor in numerous Armenian movies. And her mother, Suzan Margaryan is a famous singer who began her career in early Eighties touring with Konstantine Orpelyans Big Band all around the world. She is the beloved singer of Armenia whos most recent album is called Oror (Lullaby).
Sirusho's first encounter with singing was at the age of ten months. But she started to sing complete songs when she was just two years old. One of the songs she performed was "Qele-qele", an ancient Armenian folk song written by Komitas.
Sirusho began to compose her own music and lyrics at the age of seven,in both Armenian and English. Her first stage performance was one year later.
She was nine years old when she won her first award in a contest of young talents. Another winning award was at the age of ten in a contest of participants over her age (under 22) where she won the first prize.
She released her first album Sirusho when she was thirteen. It included songs written by famous Armenian composers, some of them became big hits.
Sirusho has also attended piano classes in the music school named after Sayat Nova.
Her second Sheram was out in 2005. The album included 10 Armenian folk songs written by famous Gusan Sheram presented in new and original arrangements but had kept the old flavor as well.She managed to spread this kind of music among many young fans from different countries. The extreme success of  Sheram and its big sales (until now) brought her the award Best Album of the year. The same year she was recognized as Best Female Artist too.
After Sheram she toured the world  bringing vibrant Armenian pop and folk music to over 30 countries- Canada, Sweden, Cyprus, Italy, Belarus, UK, Israel, Ukraine, Malta,  U.S.A, France, Belgium, Greece, Serbia,Germany, Lebanon, Egypt, Georgia, Russia, Jordan, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Poland, and elsewhere..
Sirusho always tried to bring something new and fresh in her choices of music, genres, beats and mixing different elements together. This was the concept that her third album Hima brought in spring 2007. The single Hima hit the charts to reach number one for several weeks and it proved to be a breakthrough in Armenian music unleashing a unique way of mixing Soul and R&B with Armenian elements and instruments such as Duduk, Dhol and Zurna. The other remarkable song in the album was Mez vochinch chi bajani (Nothing will tear us apart) written by Sirusho for the memory of late Varduhi Vardanyan who passed away in a tragic car accident on year 2006. Besides her compositions the album included songs by Ruben Hakhverdyan and Hayko as well.
In 2007, the Armenian Public Television asked Sirusho to represent Armenia in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
"Sirusho borrowed the fourth place with Qele qele song in Eurovision Song Concert 2008 in Belgrade, the highest position ever for Armenia. This participation brought series of unlimited successes worldwide.
At the Euroviaion song contest she also received the Marcel Bezencon award.
On May 2010 she established Sirusho Production which officially releases all of her albums. The production is also releasing singles, music albums, promoting other artists.
The first product of Sirusho Production was Sirushos fourth album Havatum em (I believe) including songs written mostly by her like the single Havatum em, international hits like the Greek hit Erotas,the trio song recorded together with Boaz Mouda and Jelena Tomaseic Time To Pray(lyrics by Shimon Perez), the special remix of Qele qele and new songs.
This new album brought Sirusho a new series of awards such as Best album and Hit of the year for Havatum em at the Armenian National Music Awards, a special award for spreading Armenian music in Europe at Tashir Awards, Best Singer and Best Media Star at Luxury Awards, and The Most Stylish Singer in Stylish Screen.
On 2010 Armenia TV presented Sirushow TV project dedicated to the15th anniversary of Sirushos artistic career. The show includes exclusive video materials, interviews and much more. It is now available on DVD.
Besides being a famous singer Sirusho has studied Foreign Relations in Yerevan State University.
. Sirusho also continues performing and composing, producing songs for her colleges.Her recent song is called Sudba Zima,Lyrics by Avet Barseghyan and is preformed by Russian famous singer Gregory Leps.
